Jon Gosselin Could Face Contempt of Court Charges Over Unauthorized Bank Withdrawal

Jon Gosselin Launches His Milkshake at Millions of Milkshakes
It's been one heck of a week in the world of "Jon and Kate Plus Eight." First, the network that broadcasts the show announced it would be dropping him, making the show just "Kate Plus Eight." Then Jon Gosselin said he wanted to halt the show because it was damaging to his eight children. Now it seems Jon has taken $200K from a joint account, without Kate's permission.

Besides showing just how much money these two have (obviously from the reality show), the move goes against a court order that stated neither couple could take a significant amount from joint accounts without the other's approval. According to Kate Gosselin's attorney, Jon could be found in contempt for this action.

In reality we all know that many have found Jon's actions since the couple announced their split to be contemptible anyway. However, we're talking about contempt of court here.

Celebrity lawyer Marty Singer, a litigation attorney for Kate, said he e-mailed a stern letter to Jon Gosselin's attorney on Friday but he hasn't heard back. He added that he expected that Kate's family law attorney in Pennsylvania will go to court Monday morning suggesting Jon be held in contempt.

Kate found out about the withdrawal the hard way: overdraft notices. When Jon took out the $200,000, he left only about $1,000 in the account. Hey, wait a second, that's over the FDIC insurance limit anyway. Jon and Kate, get with it!

Jon Puts the Gosselins' Divorce on Hold

OK, what just happened here? Earlier today TLC said it was dumping Jon Gosselin from the series "Jon and Kate Plus Eight," changing the title to "Kate Plus Eight," and focusing on Kate as a single mom.

Now, just hours after TLC made the announcement, comes the announcement that Jon Gosselin has filed paperwork to halt divorce proceedings. According to an exclusive In Touch Weekly story, "“I regret my conduct since Kate and I separated. I used poor judgment in publicly socializing with other women so soon.”

The fact that In Touch Weekly has the story in its magazine this week means the news actually came before the TLC announcement. It's hard to believe it, if for no other reason than the fact that Jon Gosselin has been cavorting with women like Hailey Glassman (among others).

While "Kate Plus Eight" is a snappy title, one has to wonder if Jon Gosselin knew anything about the TLC announcement. On the other hand, Jon added that the reason for halting his divorce for 90 days is "to regain control over the future of our family."

Readers, what do you think? Do you think Jon is seriously rethinking things? Is "Kate Plus Eight" going to become "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" again? Or do you evefn care?

"Jon and Kate" to Become "Kate"

It's official, though not unexpected. TLC is changing "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" to be a Kate-focused show. It will become "Kate Plus Eight," after the couple's split, and Jon's much-publicized, er, public escapades.

TLC announced the changes on Tuesday. The renamed “Kate Plus Eight” will begin on Nov. 2. It will continue to focus on the lives of the 8-year-old Gosselin twins and 5-year-old sextuplets but will focus onKate’s role as a single mother.

According to TLC, however, the cable network continues to have an exclusive arrangement with Jon Gosselin, so rumors of him starting a new reality show of his own appear to be false. He will apparently appear in "guest shots" as well.

Jon and Kate Gosselin made their separation official, and viewable to millions of viewers on a "Jon & Kate" episode that aired in June. That episode was a "hit" and was seen by 10.6 million viewers, but ratings have declined since then.

The split came amid rumors of infidelity by both Jon and Kate Gosselin, something both denied. Since the split announcement, Jon's behavior hasn't exactly pleased TLC, cavorting around Europe with Hailey Glassman, for aexample. The series airs Mondays at 9 PM EDT.

Jon Gosselin Fired: Rumor

You had to think news of Jon and Kate's divorce would send the ratings into a tailspin, but how about if one of them (Jon Gosselin?) is fired? That would be even worse for the show, and might even cause cancellation (and loss of their tabloid-reported $1.5 million annual salaries, each).

That's the rumor flooding the Web today. It's not only that Jon was / is / might be fired, but also that Jon Gosselin wants to be fired, according to reports.

Why would Jon Gosselin want to be fired? TMZ reports he's actually been approached to be in his own reality TV show, which would be called "Divorced Dad's Club."

of course, his current contract for "Jon and Kate" would probably prevent him from being able to take part in that new show. However, TMZ says, and this is where the "Jon Gosselin fired" rumors probably started, that TLC "fired off" a letter to him telling him he was in violation of the morals clause of his contract, as he's been seen going into bars and drinking.

That would seem to indicate that Jon Gosselin is not fired, but he's walking the razor's edge. However, while some posit that he's trying to get fired, why would he want to do so? Dropping a $1.5 million contract for something else? Unless he's getting the same, I can't see it. On the other, perhaps he see that show is living on borrowed time since the split.
