It should be noted that this part of California often produces old Native American bones, so there is no way of knowing if the bone is someone Garrido murdered, or simply an artifact. The bone fragment was found in the backyard of a neighbor's property during an extensive search of both the Garridos' property and property they had access to.
Phillip and Nancy Garrido allegedly abducted 11-year-old Jaycee Lee Dugard from a school bus stop near her South Lake Tahoe home on the morning of June 10, 1991. As she was abducted, her stepfather witnessed the event, helplessly, from two blocks away.
Phillip and Nancy Garrido have been charged with 29 felonies, including kidnapping, forcible rape and false imprisonment,
Additionally, the Pittsburg and Antioch police departments, sought to link Garrido to several unsolved homicides in the 1990s, including a series of prostitute murders. The bodies of some of the prostitutes were found near Garrido's business. Police said last week that they did not find any evidence to link Garrido to those crimes.
