Not Eating Dinner? Call 911

Prosecutors in Kerrville, TX plann to review the case of a woman that authorities claim has called 911 30 times over six months for non-emergency reasons. One of those, according to authorities, was to complain that her husband refused to eat his dinner.

Police say Elsa Benson, 53, has a long history of abusing 911, as well as public intoxication. She is now in jail with bond set at $1,000 bond.

Last Friday, Benson allegedly made a pair of calls to 911, including a hang-up and another where a woman was heard screaming.

Police were dispatched to the residence, as would typically happen with such a hang-up. Officer Paul Gonzales said she told police that "her husband did not want to eat his supper." A police report said the 53-year-old woman was also yelling "about things that happened two weeks ago."

EMTs Transport Elin Nordegren's Mother From Tiger's House to Hospital

Overnight, yet another 911 call to the Windemere, FL house of Tiger Woods, as emergency crews transported a blonde, middle-aged woman to the very same hospital that Tiger Woods went to on Black Friday, when his "transgressions" began to become public. The woman has since been identified, and is said to be Barbro Holmberg, the mother of Elin Nordegren Woods, Tiger's wife, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Paraedics reached the home at 2:37 AM and stayed until 3:13 AM when an ambulance from Health Central Hospital arrived to transport the victim. Holmberg is still be being evaluated at the time of this writing, though initial reports on her condition were rather dire, with "advanced life support" mentioned. She was admitted suffering from stomach pain, reports say.

Meanwhile, a woman resembling Elin Nordegren, was seen at the hospital driving a black Cadillac Escalade. The license plate number on the Escalade seen at the hospital Tuesday was one digit off the license of the Escalade that was damaged two weeks ago. It should be noted that GM has lent Tiger Woods vehicles in the past.

Since the Black Friday incident, it's been one incident after another, with the sheer number of women coming out of the "woodwork" (pun intended) nearly too much to keep track of. The latest newss with regards to Elin Nordegren is that she has moved out. Another report stated that she has purchased a $2.29 million house on an island near Stockholm, according to the Daily Express newspaper in London.

Watch a video report below that shows the victim being wheeled out of Tiger's house.

Woman Reports Drunk Driver to 911: Herself

Mary Strey decided to be a good citizen and report a drunk driver, someone apparently weaving around on the roadway. The only strange part was that Mary Strey was reporting herself (call below).

Mary Strey, 49, of Granton, Wisc., called 9-11 and said: "Somebody's really drunk driving down Granton Road."

When questioned further about the drunk driver, and whether she was behind them, Strey added: "No. I am them."

The surprised dispatcher replied, "You am them?" The conversation continued:
Strey: Yes, I am them.

Dispatcher: OK, so you want to call and repor that you're driving drunk?

S: Yes.

D: OK, what's your name?

S: Mary.

D: OK, hold on one second, Mary, OK?

S: Yes.

D: Are you still driving right now?

S: Yes.

D: Do you want to stop driving before you get in an accident?

S: Yes, I will stop.

D: OK, you gonna stop right now?

S: Yes, I will stop right now.

D: OK, just hold on a second, OK.

S: OK, I'm stopping.

D: OK, just hang on the phone, OK?
At least Strey was sober enough to realize she was too drunk to drive. It's still hilarious that she reported herself.

Strey asked if many people reported themselves as drunk driving, to which the dispatcher laughed and said, "No."

U.S.S. New York Commissioning Complete, Ship with 9-11 Steel Enters U.S. Navy

The U.S.S. New York commissioning took place today. The U.S. Navy warship, built partially from steel from the World Trade Center, arrived in New York harbor earlier this week.

The U.S.S. New York's bow is built from 7.5 tons of World Trade Center steel. The ship docked at 9:59 AM Monday morning, when it moored to Pier 88. The official commissioning ceremony was scheduled for today.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave the keynote address. She noted the sacrifices made by Americans since 9-11, but included Fort Hood, which some may find contentious, as the anti-terrorist message of the U.S.S. New York is thus linked to a mass murder which may have been the result of one man's mental instability, not terrorism.
"The motto of the USS New York is 'Strength forged through sacrifice. Never forget. By commissioning this ship today, we reaffirm the best and the worst of humanity, that we have seen from September 11th to Fort Hood."
New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and New York governor David Paterson also attended the U.S.S. New York commissioning, as did former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Now that the U.S.S. New York commissioning is complete, the ship will be open to the public before leaving for its home port in Virginia on Thursday. The U.S.S. New York is the fifth in the line of San Antonio-class amphibious dock vessels. Four vessels in that class are already in service (the U.S.S. San Antonio, U.S.S. New Orleans, U.S.S. Mesa Verde and U.S.S. Green Bay). Four others are being built, of which two are also have been named in connection with the Sept. 11 attacks.

Those two are the U.S.S. Somerset, which is named after the county in Pennsylvania where United Airlines flight 93 crashed, and the U.S.S. Arlington, which is named to honor the Sept. 11 attack on the Pentagon.

U.S.S. New York Arrives in Namesake CIty

The U.S.S. New York, made with steel salvaged from the wreckage of the Twin Towers, arrived on Monday in New York City. A detail aboard the 684-foot, $1.2-billion amphibious assault vessel fired a 21-gun salute from the fantail of the ship as it paused for a moment in the waters off Ground Zero.

Families of 9/11 victims, first responders, as well as the general public gathered Monday at a waterfront viewing area. The vessel arrived in New York Harbor, right on time, Nov. 2nd.

The USS New York's bow is built from 7.5 tons of World Trade Center steel. The ship docked "at home" at 9:59 AM when it moored to Pier 88. An official commissioning ceremony is scheduled for Saturday.

The ship can carry as many as 800 Marines. Its flight deck can handle helicopters as well as the MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft.

The U.S.S. New York is the fifth in the line of San Antonio-class amphibious dock vessels. Four vessels in that class are already in service (the USS San Antonio, USS New Orleans, USS Mesa Verde and USS Green Bay). Right-Wing Asserts 9/11 National Day of Service to Erase Day as GOP Tool

This is interesting. 9/11 victims' families have long recommended making the date a national day of service. President Bush, not President Obama, called for it first. Yet the right is saying that such a day of service would make the date one of "of leftist celebration and statist idolatry."

Whoa, I always thought such a day would mark it as a memorial and be good. So, it's good when Bush suggests it (or at least there was no protest), but bad when the Democrats support it. I see.

Here's the real reason, and it's one that I've posited in the past. The GOP loves to scare folks into voting for their candidates. And that's freely noted by American Spectator:
The plan is to turn a "day of fear" that helps Republicans into a day of activism called the National Day of Service that helps the left. In other words, nihilistic liberals are planning to drain 9/11 of all meaning.
A "day of fear that helps Republicans." If anyone is desecrating the memory of 9/11, it's a thought like this. This is politicizing 9/11 for the right. That's better?

The bill also had strong GOP support. Seventy House Republicans and 22 GOP senators voted for the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education (GIVE) Act, which established the National Day of Service and Remembrance on September 11.

An example: Republican Congressman Peter King of New York, who said:
“America came together in the aftermath of 9/11, reminding us what it truly means to be part of this great nation. By making 9/11 a national day of service, that same spirit of giving will continue in a day of remembrance, unity, and selflessness.”
Remembrance, unity, and selflessness. Let's think along those lines, instead of politicizing it for our advantage, can we?
