Bone Found Next Door to Garrido House IDed as Human

An independent expert has IDed a bone fragment found next door to the Antioch house of Phillip Garrido as human. Garrido held Jaycee Lee Dugard captive for 18 years, since she was 11, and besides being her kidnapper, is her rapist and father of her two children, 11 and 15.

It should be noted that this part of California often produces old Native American bones, so there is no way of knowing if the bone is someone Garrido murdered, or simply an artifact. The bone fragment was found in the backyard of a neighbor's property during an extensive search of both the Garridos' property and property they had access to.

Phillip and Nancy Garrido allegedly abducted 11-year-old Jaycee Lee Dugard from a school bus stop near her South Lake Tahoe home on the morning of June 10, 1991. As she was abducted, her stepfather witnessed the event, helplessly, from two blocks away.

Phillip and Nancy Garrido have been charged with 29 felonies, including kidnapping, forcible rape and false imprisonment,

Additionally, the Pittsburg and Antioch police departments, sought to link Garrido to several unsolved homicides in the 1990s, including a series of prostitute murders. The bodies of some of the prostitutes were found near Garrido's business. Police said last week that they did not find any evidence to link Garrido to those crimes.

Ironic: Dugard's Kidnapper Gave Advocate Child Safety Tips

Reminiscent of burglars who become security consultants, Jaycee Lee Dugard's kidnapper, rapist and father to her two children (as well as possible prostitute murderer) gave a woman advice on protecting children. Janice Gomes couldn't possibly have understood the irony.

Fifteen years ago, Janice Gomes, an Antioch resident and a child safety advocate, asked Phillip Carrido to print some flyers on child safety. Garrido told her she left some tips out.

"Phillip had printed my business cards for years and I wanted some child safety tips printed too. He said children should not be allowed to go to bus stops alone because they are no match for adults."

Obviously, Phillip Garrido knew what he was talking about. Jaycee Lee Dugard was kidnapped by Garrido from a bus stop in 1991, while her stepfather watched helplessly from two blocks away.

Janice Gomes helped in the search for 7-year-old Xiana Fairchild when she went missing from Vallejo in 1999. Evntually, it was found that Fairchild had been murdered by Curtis Dean Anderson.

Jaycee Lee Dugard was finally "found" when UC Berkeley police were raised on August 25th, when Phillip Garrido brought his two young daughters, 11 and 15, via Dugard, to the university to discuss holding an event related to God, the FBI and other topics. The children acted more like "Stepford Wives," and after checkitg with his parole officer, police were told that Garrido had no daughter. The next day, the case came to a head.

Dugard Kidnappers Tied to Prostitute Murders; Plead Not Guily

Jaycee Lee Dugard and, we assume, her two children, today continue to adjust to "normal" life, as normal as it could be under the circumstances. At the same time, Phillip Craig Garrido, 58, of Antioch and his wife, Nancy Garrido, 55, pleaded not guilty, while police searched their residence of evidence of connection into a string of 10 prostitute murders in the 1990s.

While police remain close-mouthed about the murder investigation, they did indicate that, at the time, Phillip Craig Garrido worked near the area in Pittsburg, CA, where the prostitutes' bodies were found.

What we do know, is that both Garridos lived in the house where Jaycee Lee Dugard was housed in a compound (pictured above), secreted behind a backyard fence that kept outsiders from seeing the buildings. Despite the obvious evidence to the contrary, Garrido and his wife Nancy both plead not guilty to a total of 29 charges of rape and kidnapping in connection with the 1991 abduction of Jaycee Lee Dugard.

Also, more details on just how Jaycee Lee Dugard was finally found continue to emerge today. UC Berkeley police said that campus officers' suspicions were raised on Tuesday when Phillip Craig Garrido brought his two young daughters, via Dugard, to the university to discuss holding an event related to God, the FBI and other topics.

You might recall that Garrido had his own "church" and a blog with some strange postings, among which were assertions that he could control sound with his mind.

Officer Ally Jacobs said that the girls acted strangely.
"The younger daughter was staring directly at me, as if she was looking into my soul, with this eerie smile on her face. I just got a weird, uneasy feeling."
After checking Garrido's background, which included the fact that he was a registered sex offender, Jacobs contacted his parole officer. She told the parole officer that Garrido was accompanied by two daughters.
"He said, 'Garrido doesn't have any daughters.' At that point, my stomach just sank."
While still a tragedy, reports are that Jaycee Lee Dugard today appears to be adjusting well to the "outside world," according to her parents.
