Bad Karaoke Earns a Beating

Bad singers in Stamford, Conn. beware. Police arrested six women and charged them in the assault of a 25-year-old woman following a beating over her singing performance during karaoke night at Bobby Valentine's Sports Gallery and Cafe.

Apparently the six woman, aged 19 - 20, didn't like the singing of the alleged victim, Leidy Alcantara. One of the six women became violent. "She came up to me and said I was annoying and punched me in the face," Alcantara said. The others then began pulling her hair and kicking her. Witness statements were similar to the victim's.

Of course, the accused disagree. One of them, Michelle Rosedom, 19, said it was Alcantara who became physical. It's doubtful though, as everyone else seems to agree with Alcantara.

More interesting, since all those involved were under 21, is that Bobby Valentine's has a "cafe" liquor permit, which prohibits those underage from being in the same room as a bar. Oops.

The alleged assailants were all released on $500 bond and are due in court Oct. 5.

The Search for Annie Le Moves to Conn. Incinerator

The missing person's case of twenty-four-year-old Annie Le, who was last seen Tuesday morning at a Yale University laboratory in New Haven, Conn., has reportedly moved to searching the trash at a Connecticut incinerator. Le was scheduled to marry Columbia University graduate student Jonathan Widawsky today in New York City.

While Annie Le, a pharmacology doctoral student originally from Placerville, Calif., swiped her passcard to enter the lab last Tuesday, there is no record of her leaving the lab despite the many surveillance cameras around the complex.

Meanwhile, the Yale Daily News on Saturday quoted an anonymous New Haven Police Department official as saying bloody clothes were found in a ceiling at the laboratory building.

FBI agent Bill Reiner said Sunday that officials are "following the trash" that left the laboratory. He declined to comment further, only saying that investigators are searching the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority's trash-to-energy plant in Hartford.

Yale is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to Annie Le's whereabouts. Le is 4'11", and weighs 90 pounds. Her purse, cell phone, credit cards and money were found in her office.

Women's Final Four in St. Louis a Great Experience!

On Tuesday April 7, 2009, the NCAA women's basketball season came to a conclusion at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Congratulations to the University of Connecticut Huskies as they finished an undefeated season by beating the Louisville Cardinals.

Our staff and students had a great time serving as the medical staff for the event!

Field Set for 2009 Women's Final Four!

The Saint Louis University Athletic Training Education Program serves as the host athletic trainers for the 2009 Women's Final Four in St. Louis. We are very excited about this opportunity! Congratulations to the participating teams....the University of Connecticut Huskies, the University of Oklahoma Sooners, the Stanford University Cardinal and the University of Louisville Cardinals. The weekend begins with open practices on Saturday, April 4th. Semifinal games on Sunday April 5th at 6:00 pm and the NCAA Championship Game at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, April 7th.

Not only are the games in St. Louis, but there are many exciting fan activities!
