Kellie Black Accepts Position at Washington University

Kellie Black MAT, ATC, one of SLU's first athletic training gradustes has accepted a position at Washington University, which is also one our clinical sites.

Kellie Black enters her first year as an assistant athletic trainer at Washington University in St. Louis. Black comes to Washington University after earning her master's degree in athletic training from Saint Louis University in 2010. She also received her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from SLU in 2008. Black spent the two years as an athletic training student for the Washington University football team (August-December 2008, August 2009-May 2010), and also completed stints as athletic training student at SLU (January-May 2009) and athletic training intern for the RiverCity Rage of the Indoor Arena Football League (April-July 2009). Black also worked for Rehab 1 Network Physical Therapy Clinic for one year, and had student athletic trainer mini rotations at Webster Groves High School, Khazen Athletickare and The Orthopedic Center of St. Louis. She is assigned to women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s track and field. Athletic Trainer Rick Larsen Featured in Article about "Comeback Athlete" Sean Wallis in Training and Conditioning Magazine

Sean Wallis, a men's basketball player at Washington University, was named as the "Comeback Athlete" in the December 2009 issue of Training and Conditioning Magazine.  Wash U Head Athletic Trainer Rick Larsen was also featured in the article as he managed the Wallis' knee injury acutely and supervised the rehabilitation and return to play.

Rick Larsen and his staff serves as Approved Clinical Instructors in the SLU Athletic Training Education program where Washington University is a clinical site.

Busy Time of the Year

The fall sports are winding down and the winter sports are ramping up, making this a busy time of the year for athletic trainers everywhere!

In addition to that...our students have a full docket of classes, which are keeping them busy!

Countdown to kickoff

We would like to welcome all of our students back to SLU as they move in and classes start on August 25th. This is an exciting time for all of us!

Speaking of kickoff, things are going well in our students' first clinical rotations with football at Washington University. Darcy Downey, our clinical coordinator, took some "action shots" of our students.
