Amy Beck has been charged with five counts of unlawful sex with a person under 16. The boy has since moved from David Starr Jordan Middle School to a different location, officials said.
Originally, Beck was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday. However, the arraignment was postponed until March 25th. If tried and convicted, Amy Beck could face up to seven years in prison.
It is of note that Amy Beck turned herself in on Monday, as opposed to someone such as Melinda Dennehy (accused of sexting a student). Amy Beck is being held on $175,000 bail. The Burbank Unified School District said she resigned the Friday before turning herself in to authorities.
While Amy Beck admittedly turned herself into police, her attorney, Michael Williamson, said:
“My client is not making any admissions. She’s voluntarily assisting and cooperating with the Burbank Police Department.”In fact, the arraignment was reportedly postponed by a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge so that Amy Beck could continue to work with authorities, as noted above.
