Burbank teacher Amy Beck remains in jail for alleged sex with student

Amy Beck, a 33-year-old mother-of-three and a sixth-grade teacher from Burbank, California has been in jail since earlier this week after turning herself in for having sex with a teenager last year. The boy in question was 14 at the time.

Amy Beck has been charged with five counts of unlawful sex with a person under 16. The boy has since moved from David Starr Jordan Middle School to a different location, officials said.

Originally, Beck was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday. However, the arraignment was postponed until March 25th. If tried and convicted, Amy Beck could face up to seven years in prison.

It is of note that Amy Beck turned herself in on Monday, as opposed to someone such as Melinda Dennehy (accused of sexting a student). Amy Beck is being held on $175,000 bail. The Burbank Unified School District said she resigned the Friday before turning herself in to authorities.

While Amy Beck admittedly turned herself into police, her attorney, Michael Williamson, said:

“My client is not making any admissions. She’s voluntarily assisting and cooperating with the Burbank Police Department.”

In fact, the arraignment was reportedly postponed by a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge so that Amy Beck could continue to work with authorities, as noted above.

Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who saved the passengers of Flight 1549, a US Airways plane, by safely landing the craft in the Hudson River did more than just that. He also gave his sex life a boost.

The statement came from his wife, Laurie Sullenberger, who told NBC's Matt Lauer, who was interviewing them for a Thanksgiving Day special, how the extra "celebrity" affected their relationship.

She said: "He doesn't know I'm gonna say this, but I had joked the other day that ... the hero sex really helps a 20-year-old marriage."

Meanwhile, Sully chimed in, calling it "Rock star sex." Certainly, this is probably "too much information" for most, but it's probably worth more to Sully than the easy access to reservations for dinner he can probably expect just about anywhere in the country.

Prejean: Sextape "Biggest Mistake Of My Life"

Carrier Prejean's sextape, which effectively ended her lawsuit against the Miss California pageant, has been called the "biggest mistake of my life" by the former beauty queen. She appeared on Seah Hannity's Fox News show last night, discussing the issue, and stating the tape was made for her boyfriend at the time.

Wait, a Prejean sextape would intimate that the two were having pre-marital sex. Naughty, naughty, Miss Family Values.

Prejean dropped her lawsuit against the pageant after officials and lawyers brought out the tape and showed it to her, and to her mother, who happened to be in attendance.

Carrie Prejean's 85 minutes of fame began when she famously told Perez Hilton during the Miss USA pageant that she was against same-sex marriage. She didn't win, and accused judges of voting against her for that reason.

Then began a contentious relationship with the Miss California pageant as she openly attended anti-same-sex marriage events and filmed anti-same-sex marriage ads, as well as missing Miss California pageant authorized events. Semi-nude photos of her (with a slight Prejean nipple-slip) were also brought to light.

Prejean discussed the sextape on "The Today Show" today as well. On the show, she sandi news of the sextape is just another part of a seven-month-old "campaign to try and silence me."

When asked by host Meredith Vieira why she dropped her $1 million lawsuit against Miss California USA, she wouldn't elaborate, saying she's "not allowed" to discuss the particulars of the matter.

Teacher Pays Student $1,500 for Sex

Oh, those crazy people in Utah. A former Helper (UT) Junior High School teacher not only had sex with a 15-year-old male student, it was apparently so good she paid him between $1,400 and $1,500 after the encounters according to court documents.

Melissa Ann Andreini, 28, was charged last Monday in 7th District Court with three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Sept.28tg before Judge Douglas Thomas in Price, UT. If convicted, she faces up to five years in prison on each count.

The victim's mother (I know, I know, he's a victim, but with $1,500 in his pocket, it's harder to say that) confronted Melissa Andreini at her home on July 3rd. The teacher admitted not just the sex but also the payments of between $1,400 to $1,500, all told.

According to the boy, Andreini paid him the cash after three separate sexual encounters at her home in June. The encounters started during the 2008-09 school year.

It's unclear if the money was for sex or for hush money, to keep the boy quiet. Andreini was booked into the Carbon County jail last week, but was released after posting $10,000 bail.

Think Steroids Testing is Embarrassing? Ask Caster Semenya

A-Rod, Barry Bonds, and others athletes who have undergone steroids testing should be happy. That's nothing compared to the indignities being cast upon Caster Semenya (photo above).

Caster Semenya photos hint at the issue. Or perhaps not, unless you know that Caster Semenya is a woman. She is an 18-year-old South African who won the 800-meter gold medal yesterday, at the World Track and Field Championships.

Looking at the Caster Semenya photos, you'd have to think "that's one muscular woman." Obviously she's not bodybuilder muscular, but she is muscular. It's not just that however: a deep voice, and rapid improvement since last year (she has dropped her times in the 800m 9 seconds) lead to suspicion over performance-enhancing drugs, which could, in fact, also lead to gender-bending physicality on a woman.

However, besides the expected drug testing, Caster Semenya must be examined by, among others, a gynecologist, psychologist and endocrinologist.

A quick comparison between Caster Semenya photos and those of Jenny Meadows, from the U.K. and bronze medal winner, show that Meadows exhibits the lean, still muscular look of a middle-distance runner. However, Meadows looks pretty hot in a dress, while Semenya, probably not so much.

The testing, announced yesterday, has to be embarrassing to Caster Semenya. Photo comparisons with someone like Meadows aside, this should have been handled discreetly by South Africa before the games. It's clear from reports that the IAAF tried to keep this all quiet, but once it leaked, it was all over the web.

Results of the tests are not expected until next month.
