Admiral James Stavridis took over as NATO's top commander in Europe in July. On Friday, he admitted the obvious. "Not everybody loves us." He admitted that NATO, a huge military alliance, must seek new ways to convince people of a positive view of its role in global security.
Stavridis told a meeting in London, "We need to get out into social media, we need to get out in creative ways to move a message about NATO -- why it matters, what it is, where it's involved and where we want to take it. I'm on Facebook, friend me!"
And here he is (on Facebook, that is). Right now he has 1,745 friends. That's not too many, considering NATO's global status.
