Squirrel Vacation Photo Goes Viral

The Internet is where someone like Susan Boyle can become a superstar. It's also where a Canadian squirrel can invade a vacation picture and similarly go viral.

The real question is, is it real or Photoshopped? The couple in the picture, Melissa and Jackson Brandts, say the Squirrel Vacation Picture, as its now known, is 100% real.

The allure of the Squirrel Vacation Picture has become so huge that the couple appeared on The Today Show on Monday. Not one to let an opportunity slip past, Banff National Park, where the photo was taken, is using this as a marketing tool.

For example, Banff is has set up Twitter and Facebook pages under the name Banff National Park Squirrel. They are also encouraging end users to send in their own squirrel-based pictures to those sites.

The Squirrel Vacation Picture hit the big time when the Brandts submitted the picture to National Geographic. Since then, the photos gone viral and you can find pictures of that squirrel just about everyone.

Since the squirrel and his vacation picture have become the darling of the world (you have to admit, it's seriously cute), let's hope he lives a long and predator-free life.
