Unfortunately for the University of Pittsburgh, the George Sodini estate is likely to be used up by damages in any lawsuits that are filed, according to a legal expert. Additionally, the university said it has "no interest" in the money anyway.
In fact, two lawsuits have already been filed against the estate of George Sodini. His executor is his brother, Michael Sodini. The lawsuits were filed by Ashley Ferragonio and Lisa Fleeher, both of whom survived their gunshot wounds, in Allegheny County Common Pleas court.
George Sodini's last will and testament was dated Oct. 26, 2007, according to a local paper. It is unclear why he wanted to leave his money to the university, but Sodini graduated from Pitt in 1992 with a degree in computer science.
Killed in Sodini's killing spree, in which he shot up an aerobics class, were Heidi Overmier, 46, of Carnegie, a sales manager at an amusement park; Jody Billingsley, 37, of Mount Lebanon, who worked for a medical-supply company; and Elizabeth Gannon, 49, of Pittsburgh, an X-ray technician at Allegheny General Hospital.
